WA 92 (9/2023): Revealing notes of sweet citrus fruit, white flowers, crisp green apple and blanched almonds, the 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume is medium to full-bodied, satiny and textural, with a rich core of fruit, good concentration and bright acids. Some 40% was matured in barrel. VM 92 (9/2023): The 2022 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru, half aged in stainless steel and half in used barrels, has a very enticing bouquet of yellow flowers and wet stone bursting from the glass. The palate is very well-balanced with a slightly waxy texture. The acidity is well-judged, and the finish has just the right amount of tension and mineralité. This delightful Fourchaume should drink well over the next decade, possibly longer. Neal Martin. BH 90 (8/2023): ( from a 1.3 holding in Fourchaume proper). Here too the wood influence is admirably subtle as it easily allow the ripe, fresh and vaguely exotic nose that offers just enough Chablis typicity to be appreciated. The medium-bodied flavors are rich to the point of opulence thanks to the abundant dry extract that coats the palate as well as buffers the moderately firm acid spine shaping the lemony and attractively dry finale. This is already appealing but it's going to have to develop more depth than my rating envisions. Drink 2027+. |

BH 88-90 (10/2024): (from a parcel of .26 ha). A funky nose of leesy reduction and lactic character. By contrast there is good freshness to the rich, generously proportioned and succulent medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a delicious if somewhat short finish. This should improve once it’s racked but it’s awkward today. Drink 2027+ |

WA 89 (9/2023): Aromas of white flowers, orange zest and almonds introduce the 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Vau de Vey, a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny wine that's a touch more overtly ripe and sun-kissed than the domaine's other premiers crus. BH 89-91 (8/2023): (from a 3.52 ha parcel aged in 30% wood). Here too an admirably subtle dollop of wood can be found on the ripe and fresh aromas of green fruit, spice and sea breeze hints. There is more size, weight and power to the less refined medium-bodied flavors that display a touch of rusticity on the lemony, dry and lingering finish that is noticeably firmer. Drink 2028+. |

WA 94 (9/2023): Matured in a mix of 500-liter oak and 228-liter steel barrels, the 2022 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos is deep and layered, exhibiting aromas of pear, white flowers, blanched almonds and honeycomb. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with attractive purity of fruit and bright balancing acids, it underlines this estate's continued progress. BH 91 (10/2024): (from a .53 ha parcel planted in 1962 and matured in one third older oak and two-thirds stainless). Here there is a citrus confit character to the more floral-suffused aromas of oyster shell, quinine and brine. There is very good volume to the sappy and powerful larger-scaled flavors that terminate in a lemony, austere and highly persistent finish that displays evident power and salinity if only average depth. This is promising but patience will be needed. I would add that this is not so structured that it couldn’t be approached after only a few years of cellaring. Drink 2030+ |

WA 94 (7/2022): Aromas of orange oil, freshly baked bread, crisp peach and oyster shell introduce the 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and textural wine with tangy acids, chalky extract and a comparatively structured, reserved profile for a site that can deliver youthfully extroverted wines. It's now vinified and matured in 500-liter barrels. BH 91-94 (10/2021): (from a .77 ha parcel planted in 1967 and 1987 and matured in 50% 1 to 5-year-old oak and 50% stainless.) Moderate wood suffuses the vaguely exotic aromas of lemongrass, passion fruit, anise and whiffs of algae and oyster shell. There is again fine volume to the notably finer middle weight flavors that possess a more refined texture though not the same power on the tension-filled, balanced and sneaky long finish. A wine of finesse and harmony. Drink 2028+. |

WA 93 (9/2023): Wafting from the glass with aromas of honeycomb, vine blossom, orange zest and nutmeg, the 2022 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir is medium to full-bodied, satiny and suave, with a fleshy core of fruit, lively acids and a saline, spice-inflected finish. This, too, is a fine success. BH 91 (10/2024): A restrained nose flashes only a touch of exotic character on the spicy aromas of mostly yellow orchard fruit, apple, iodine and a floral top note. The generous but appealingly punchy middle weight flavors exude evident minerality on the saliva-inducing, balanced and lingering finale. A few years of keeping should help add complexity. |
