WS 93 (11/2018): Distinctive, from the creamy, gently toasted macadamia nut edge to the panoply of makrut lime, white peach, yellow apple and fleur de sel notes. The refined finish lets flashes of tarragon and honeysuckle chime in. Long and lilting. Drink now through 2024. |

VM 94 (8/2021): Sourced from a south-facing single vineyard on flint and clay over chalk, the 2018 Pur Sang is all white flowers and spiced apple pastry. Seemingly effortless and silken, its Sauvignon edges rounded out in barrels. It offers excellent concentration on the mid-palate, a line of acidity acting like a thread and holding the core together like a ball. Delectably textured, with a hint of tannic sensation holding the mouth gently on a lengthy conclusion that's drawn-out and precise. A complex, multifaceted wine. Rebecca Gibb. |

WS 96 (10/2006): Cuts like a knife, with live-wire Key lime, grapefruit, chalk and sea salt notes. Rich and powerful, but very nervy through the long, mouthwatering, collar-grabbing finish. Almost severe now in its minerality, but just wait. Best from 2007 through 2011. 2,000 cases made. |

WA 93-94 (6/2012): A pungent suggestion of diverse hedge flowers and high-toned herbs rises from the glass of Dagueneau 2010 Blanc Fume de Pouilly Silex; then migrates to a palate dominated by succulent grapefruit, white peach, and cassis. Breadth, opulence, sheer extract, a silken texture, and high glycerin, all seem to enhance this Sauvignon’s sense of sweet ripeness, though citrus zest and berry skin lend satisfying counterpoint. There is resonance and depth to the finish here, and if for now not quite the dazzling complexity of the corresponding Sancerre Monts Damnes, then certainly a compelling performance that promises to be worth revisiting over the next dozen or more years. VM 92+ (10/2014): Greenish yellow. Lime and quince on the nose, with dusty mineral and honeysuckle qualities adding complexity. Drier and racier than the 2011, showing impressive definition to its citrus and floral flavors. Finishes with mineral thrust and spicy length. Still closed and a touch austere, but shows the superb potential of the 2010 vintage. Joel B. Payne |
