| VM 93 (5/2022): Mint, cress, stalk celery, plum pit and wood smoke accent lemon and apple in the aromatically pungent and frisky, infectiously juicy and mouthwateringly saline 2020 Riesling Wiltinger Braune Kupp Kabinett. The underlying feel is polished, and there is a delightful, wafting sense of delicacy. This finishes with tongue-tingling vibrancy and shimmering fruit, stone and herbal interaction. Here is a wonderful example of how 2020 so often defies preconceptions of a growing season with a very warm, dry summer. (Drink between 2021-2035). David Schildknecht. |

| JD 94 (7/2024): The 2022 Riesling Wiltinger Braune Kupp Le Gallais Kabinett is beautiful, with a more racy, focused style (despite coming from a warmer site) carrying lively lychee and citrus fruits as well as beautiful clove, mint, and ginger nuances that emerge with time in the glass. It's medium-bodied and has a crystalline, focused mouthfeel, perfect balance in its acidity and sweetness, and a great finish. It will benefit from a year or three in bottle and keep for at least two decades. (Drink between 2026-2047) |

| VM 89 (5/2017): This bottling, as usual based in large part on Saarburg and Oberemmel fruit but also incorporating a bit from Wiltingen, delightfully illustrates the bright, animating acidity of its vintage. Fresh apple and pear are laced with zesty lemon and lime and underlain by wet stone on a firm, palpably extract-rich palate. Green herbal pungency and peat-like smokiness lend further interest to an exuberant and refreshing finish. David Schildknecht. |

| WA 93+ (8/2020): Müller's 2019 Wiltinger Braune Kupp Riesling Kabinett opens with a bright, ripe and finely slatey bouquet. Round and lush on the palate, this is a medium-bodied, mouth-filling, charming and balanced Kupp Kabinett with ripe, elegant, crystalline and salty acidity and fine grip on the aromatic, well-structured finish. The 2019 already drinks dangerously well as an aperitif, but it is made to be cellared and then served with food in about 15-20 years. 9.5% alcohol. Tasted from AP 2-20 in June 2020. |

| WA 91 (12/2011): Almost severe in its sense of overt, palpable density, the Le Gallais 2010 Wiltinger Braune Kupp Riesling Spatlese resembles a reduction of fresh apple, cherry, and purple plum laced with lemon, and tartly chewy from fruit skin. Despite its amazing sheer concentration, I didn’t find this wine particularly suggestive of botrytis. “That’s not what you’d say if you had seen the grapes,” remarks Muller with a laugh. That noted, he adds – which I did observe – that its personality is what one would have expected knowing the vintage-typical, freakishly high dry extract and acidity it harbors. An almost flinty as well as wet stone cast contributes to this Riesling’s memorable if far from charming persistence. I suspect it will be long-lived, but whether it will gain allure I won’t try to predict. |
