| BH 90 (1/2014): Discreet wood frames somber dark berry fruit aromas that are liberally laced with earth, humus, game and smoke nuances. There is excellent richness and intensity to the round and silky-textured flavors that display good energy before terminating in a solidly complex and impressively persistent finish where a hint of bitterness is present. The supporting structure seems sufficiently ripe and as such my score offers the benefit of the doubt that the bitterness is simply a post-bottling phase. Drink 2021+. |

| VM 92-94 (1/2018): Bright red-ruby. Slightly medicinal aromas of blackberry, licorice and violet complicated by a rocky quality. Pungent, tangy and high-pitched, offering a very fine-grained texture to its flavors of cassis, black cherry and violet; aeration brought a slightly less black note of raspberry and sexy savory soil tones. From vines on very shallow soil just across the Route des Grands Crus from Chambertin, this wine offers terrific punch and building sweetness. Both these vines and those in Mazoyères-Chambertin were planted shortly after World War II but a small part of the Charmes was replanted in 1998. Stephen Tanzer. |

VM 93 (10/2019): The 2016 Corton Grand Cru is comparatively deep in colour. The bouquet is surfeit with red berry fruit, briary and crushed stone aromas, all well defined and beautifully assimilated with the new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black and red fruit, well judged acidity, clean and crisp with gentle grip on the finish. This is a superb Corton that will give 20 years of drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 30 closure) (Drink between 2021-2045). Neal Martin.

I very much like the sleek, even polished mouthfeel of the bigger, richer and more powerful broad-shouldered flavors that display excellent persistence on the palate coating, dusty and beautifully long finale where hints of bitter cherry pit and oak can be found. This is very firmly structured and will need at least a few years of bottle age first but in time it should be excellent. (Drink starting 2031). |

| BH 91 (1/2018): A fresh, ripe and very Gevrey nose reflects plenty of earth, sauvage and humus characters on the dark currant and softly floral aromas. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension and minerality to the dusty, precise and sleekly muscular flavors that culminate in a notably firm but not especially austere or backward finale. This should reward up to 10 years of cellaring yet be approachable after 5 or so. Drink 2023+. Outstanding! |

The palate is sweet and ripe on the entry, fleshy in texture and very pure in terms of its red fruit profile, with a little more depth and body on the finish than some others. This represents a delightful Gevrey Premier Cru. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2025-2044). Neal Martin.

A qualitative choice that favors ever so slightly the Mazoyères but note that the respective characters are miles apart. Drink: 2015+. |

It is blessed with an irresistible bouquet that showcases Romain Taupenot's ability to conjure crystalline fruit from this vineyard.
