JD 92-94 (10/2023): The traditional cuvée from this talented winemaker, the 2022 Gigondas Réserve is a blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and the rest Mourvèdre and Cinsault. It has a gorgeous perfume of black raspberries, toasted spices, dried flowers, and camphor, with a touch of loamy earth and minerality that emerges with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, it has the riper profile of the vintage, fine tannins, terrific overall balance, and outstanding length. It's a rich yet also elegant barrel sample. VM 91-93 (1/2024): Round and refined, the 2022 Gigondas Réserve mixes 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 8% Mourvèdre and 2% Cinsault. Glossy strawberries emerge, followed by red plum, blackberry and black cherry nuances. The inclusion of five percent new oak during one year of aging imparts additional cedary elements. Medium to full-bodied and concentrated, the 2022 already feels complete, even at this young stage. Nicolas Greinacher. |

JD 92-94+ (10/2023): The 2022 Gigondas La Colline should be outstanding, yet it certainly doesn't have the opulence or richness of prior vintages. Beautiful black raspberries, spring flowers, camphor, and loamy earth notes all flow to a medium to full-bodied, elegant, pretty Grenache (it's 100% Grenache) with ripe tannins and a great finish. It's another 2022 that will demand bottle age. VM 94-96 (1/2024): Grenache-lovers: Buckle up for the promising 2022 Gigondas La Colline. This bold and time-demanding wine combines fragrant floral, red fruit and spicy aromatics with terrific structure and remarkable intensity. Vinified with 40% whole clusters and coming in at 15.3% alcohol, this layered 2022 red needs a few years in bottle to settle down. Nicolas Greinacher. |

JD 94-96 (10/2023): Coming from a cooler terroir of pure sand soils just beside the estate, the 2022 Gigondas Le Lieu-Dit (100% Grenache) offers up loads of ripe strawberry fruit supported by floral, camphor, and loamy soil nuances. With medium to full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannins, and a seamless mouthfeel, this is a Burgundy lover’s Grenache that will benefit from just a few years in the cellar and evolve for 15+ in cold cellars. VM 93-95 (1/2024): The gorgeous 2022 Gigondas Le Lieu Dit dazzles right away. Pronounced raspberry and strawberry notes mingle with scents of mango, fresh mint and a dash of white pepper. Look out for this single-varietal Grenache—it bursts with personality and complexity. Despite its 15.4% alcohol and full body, this 2022 red feels remarkably light on its feet. This cuvée emerges from 60-year-old vines grown on a parcel with a distinctive cooling influence, derived from its northwestern exposure at the edge of a forest. Fermentation included 30% whole clusters. Nicolas Greinacher. |

Gigondas Le Regard Loin |

JD 94-96+ (10/2023): Lastly, the 2022 Gigondas Le Regard Loin is a clear standout in the lineup, showing the elegance that's present in all of these releases, but bringing more richness and depth. Black raspberries, sandalwood, Provençal spice, and garrigue notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a beautifully textured, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It brings more mid-palate depth than most in the vintage and has the balance and texture to not only drink well in its youth but evolve for two decades if well stored. VM 94-96 (1/2024): The 2022 Gigondas Le Regard Loin is a stunner. Rich and explosive, the 2022 showcases intense rose petal, orange rind, crushed violet, raspberry, strawberry and cranberry. Minty elements and spice box nuances usher in. On the palate, this 2022 strikes the perfect balance between uplifting acidity, concentrated fruit flavors and a polished web of structure-lending tannins. A cuvée first made in the 2019 vintage, the Le Regard Loin has already secured its place amongst the leaders of the appellation. Nicolas Greinacher. |
