BH 87 (4/2019): (from vineyards in Santenay, Marsannay and the lower portions of Volnay). A pretty and expressive nose offers up notes of various red berries, earth and a whiff of the sauvage. The succulent, rich and juicy middle weight flavors |

WA 94 (1/2020): The 2018 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is showing very well, soaring from the glass with aromas of wild berries, rose petals, violets, orange rind and dark chocolate. On the palate, it's full-bodied, concentrated and muscular, with lively acids and a powdery but elegantly refined chassis of structuring tannins, concluding with a long and resonant finish. BH 92 (4/2020): ( from a <.34 ha parcel in Grand Maupertuis.) This plays right on the edge of volatile acidity with its nose of poached plum, black raspberry and warm earth. The middle weight flavors are not especially dense but do possess a highly attractive mouthfeel while displaying good power on the bitter cherry pit-inflected finish. This moderately firm effort is somewhat awkward at present, but I suspect that it will recover with age. Drink 2033+. |

BH 94 (4/2013): (near the very top of the vineyard and atypically, the rows are planted North-South). Somewhat counterintuitively this possesses riper fruit with distinct sauvage notes to the humus and mineral-inflected, brooding and very cool wild dark berry fruit aromas. There is excellent power to the driving and highly energetic, stony and robust flavors that display impressive mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in an austere, explosive and strikingly long finish. This is a serious wine but then again, isn’t Chambertin virtually always serious in its youth? Drink 2026+. VM 92-95 (2/2013): Good dark red. Very pure but reticent aromas of dark berries, mocha and sandalwood; smells creamy. Then lush and seamless in the mouth, but with great energy to the flavors of black cherry clafouti, dark chocolate, licorice and pepper. The explosive, slowly mounting finish features substantial fine-grained tannins and black fruit and pepper elements complicated by saline minerality. |

Pommard 1er Cru Clos Blanc ex-Domaine |
$99.99 |

|
WA 92 (1/2020): The Boillot family purchased this parcel in 2008 and replanted it, and a decade later, the 2018 Pommard 1er Cru Clos Blanc is making a fine debut in the portfolio. Bursting with aromas of plums, berries, cassis and blood orange, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and ample, with good concentration, succulent acids and the powdery tannins that are the signature of the vintage at this address. This bottling marks a move away from négociant purchases in Pommard for Boillot. BH 90 (4/2020): (from a parcel purchased in 2007 and replanted; 2018 will be the first vintage where this has been declared under its own name as it was previously blended.) This is riper still and there is a touch of prune character to the plummy dark berry fruit scents. The bigger but notably less refined flavors possess a caressing mid-palate that contrasts markedly with the robust and muscular finish that offers very good depth and persistence. While the tannins are firm there is sufficient dry extract to suggest that this could be approached after only 5-ish years. Drink 2030+. |

BH 93 (4/2019): : (from equally sized parcels in both Rugiens Hauts and Bas that measure @1 ha). A superfresh if restrained nose speaks of ripe aromas of poached plum, violet and black cherry. The highly energetic and intensely mineral-driven middle weight plus flavors are at once tautly muscular and precise while the youthfully austere finish is shaped by quite fine-grained tannins. Like all examples of Rugiens worth of their name, this is built-to-age and will need it. Drink 2029+. |

VM 88-90 (1/2018): (an assemblage of multiple parcels): Healthy bright red. Less obviously open on the nose than the Bourgogne, conveying an element of medicinal reserve to its red fruit and floral aromas. Suave and fine-grained in the mouth, offering good energy and definition to its flavors of red fruits, licorice, flowers and menthol. A subtle, classically dry Volnay with lovely saline persistence. Stephen Tanzer. |

BH 89 (4/2019): A perfumed and airy nose features essence of raspberry and soft spice elements, the latter of which can be found on the pure and energetic lighter weight flavors that possess a seductive texture, all wrapped in a sneaky long bitter cherry pit-inflected finish. A quality Volnay villages. Drink 2022+. |

WA 90 (1/2020): Aromas of cassis, dark berries and violets, framed by a deft touch of new oak, introduce the 2018 Volnay Village, a medium to full-bodied, ample and succulent wine with a lively core of fruit and powdery structuring tannins. This is a charming and beautifully defined Volnay that will offer a broad drinking window. BH 89 (4/2020): ( from Le Village.) A more deeply pitched nose combines notes of violet with those of cassis and plum. The sleek, intense and beautifully vibrant medium weight flavors possess fine delineation and a subtle minerality that adds a sense of lift to the balanced, long, linear and youthfully austere finale. This too is very good for its level. Drink 2024+. Outstanding Top Value! |

Volnay 1er Cru Champans (1.5 L) ex-Domaine |

BH 91 (4/2015): Here the nose plays right on the edge of reduction and it's enough to shave the top notes off of the earthy red berry fruit and softly spicy aromas. This too possesses impressive volume to the intense and well-concentrated medium-bodied flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality on the dense, serious, austere and lingering finish. This is a bit more robust than the Santenots but it is by no means rustic. Drink 2021+. Outstanding! VM 90-92 (1/2015): (from vines more than 60 years of age): Bright, dark red. Pungent, high-pitched aromas of cherry, mint, licorice and herbs, plus a cool whiff of menthol. Juicy, sappy and perfumed, with the licorice quality carrying through in the mouth. This very youthful, savory wine finishes with lovely lift and thrust, and lingering rose and violet perfume. WA 88-90 (12/2014): The 2013 Volnay Champans 1er Cru has a slightly more floral bouquet compared to the Fremiets, around the same level of aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with a firm grip on the entry, moderate acidity and quite a dense, blackberry and spice-tinged finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. This is a satisfactory Volnay, though without the nervosité of the Caillerets. |

BH 87 (6/2020): (85% from Meursault and Puligny Bourgogne vines and the rest from declassified St. Romain and Auxey-Duresses in equal proportions.) There is a very subtle whiff of the exotic to the citrus and petrol-tinged aromas of white peach and soft wood. The intense, indeed even racy, well-detailed flavors exude a bead of minerality on the saline, dry and lingering finish. This is really quite good for its level and worth checking out. Drink 2022+. Outstanding! |

Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru |

BH 94 (7/2003): The purity here is mind bending and this is perhaps the most transparent wine in this entire group. Elegant, fine and crystalline with superbly detailed fruit and flavors with a positively brilliant, almost painfully intense finish that is astonishingly long. Classy and altogether imposing with its unmatched combination of complexity, depth and focus. While I cannot argue that this has better material than either the Montrachet or the incredible Corton-Charlemagne, I can say that stylistically, the Chevalier is my personal favorite. This is unquestionably a great wine. Don't miss! Drink 2008-13. WA 94 (4/2003): Minerals, smoke, gravel, and hints of sweet apricots can be found in the nose of the 2001 Chevalier-Montrachet. Medium-bodied, satin-textured, complex, and divinely elegant, this detailed, pure wine paints the taster's palate with stones, minerals, and ripe pears. It has exceptional depth, concentration, and a precise, supple, flavorful finish. Projected maturity: 2005-2014. VM 93+ (10/2003): Good pale color. Subtle, complex nose hints at minerals, butter and nutty oak. Dense but penetrating, with bright acids and strong mineral character contributing to the impression of freshness. Finishes very long, firm and gripping. This one needs a good three or four years of patience. |

Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru ETA 90-120 Days; No cancellations or returns. Subject to tariffs upon arrival in USA (6x750ML) |

|
BH 96 (6/2018): (100% from Aloxe fruit in Le Charlemagne.) A distinctly smoky nose combines notes of mineral-reduction with those of green apples, lavender and spice. The super-intense and well-muscled flavors seem to be built on a firm base of minerality before culminating in an explosively long finish. Note well that like the Montrachet, this presently taciturn effort is very clearly built-to-age and is going to require a minimum of 7 to 8 years of cellaring first and reward far longer. Drink 2031+. VM 93-96 (9/2017): (75% new oak; 4.4 grams per liter acidity; from vines in Aloxe, which Boillot picked last in 2016 before starting on Pinot Noir): Bright light-medium yellow. Subtly complex, musky aromas of peach, caraway seed, nutmeg, mace and hazelnutty lees. At once densely packed and penetrating, with a stony citric pungency giving precision to the seamless middle palate and cutting through the wine's texture. Wonderfully pure and energetic for this cuvée, finishing tactile and unflagging, with terrific citrus lift. This has the palate-staining length and structure for a slow and graceful evolution in bottle; it's also the only 2016 here that struck me as tannic, but then classic Corton-Charlemagne typically shows structure more like a red wine. Stephen Tanzer. |

BH 94 (6/2020): ( from both Pernand and Aloxe.) A ripe, cool and equally restrained nose offers up notes of green apple, floral, an array of citrus and, like the Chevalier, plenty of mineral reduction. There is excellent power and volume to the delicious yet entirely serious broad-shouldered flavors that possess both terrific cut and minerality, all wrapped in a clean, dry and youthfully austere finale. This isn't quite as dense or powerful as the Montrachet but even so, there is much to admire and note well that this too should age exceptionally well. Drink 2033+. WA 95 (1/2020): The most youthfully reserved wine in the cellar was the 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, a promising bottling that opens up to reveal scents of citrus zest, dried white flowers, green apple and pastry cream. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with racy acids and prodigious levels of searingly chalky dry extract that lend this wine incredible structure. |

BH 97 (6/2020): As good as the Chevalier is, and it's really good, this is arguably the most complex wine in the range with its mix of highly restrained and super-complex white orchard fruit, acacia blossom, citrus, spice, soft oak and jasmine tea aromas. The wonderfully seductive yet beautifully sleek large-scaled flavors bathe the palate in sappy dry extract while delivering superb length on the focused, powerful and beautifully well-balanced finish. This is a magnificent mineral-driven Montrachet and one of the best wines of the 2018 vintage. A genuine 'wow' wine. Drink 2033+. WA 97 (1/2020): The 2018 Montrachet Grand Cru is brilliant, unfurling in the glass with scents of ripe oranges, fresh pear, peach, buttered citrus, warm pastry and anise. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, textural and enveloping, with superb depth at the core, lively acids and an ineffable sense of completeness, concluding with a long and mineral finish. |

BH 89 (6/2020): (a blend of equal proportions from Narvaux, Tillets, Clos du Cromin, Limozin and Chevalières.) A ripe yet cool nose features notes of petrol, hazelnut, acacia and poached pear. There is again excellent energy to the acceptably concentrated flavors that culminate in a clean, dry and crisp finish. This too is quite good for its level. Drink 2024+. Outstanding! WA 91 (1/2020): Aromas of pear, green apple, white flowers, fresh pastry and toasted hazelnuts introduce the 2018 Meursault Village, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive wine that's chalky and structured, showing real depth and tension. As usual, it's a blend of superior lieux-dits, including Narvaux, En la Barre, Limuzin and Clos du Cromin. |

BH 93 (6/2020): A cool, airy and elegant nose speaks of even more floral elements that include acacia, lilac and rose petal along with hints of mineral reduction, lemon rind and soil nuances. There is equally good intensity to the sophisticated, stony and chiseled middle weight flavors that conclude in a super-saline and linear finish that is quite firm. This is akin to rolling rocks around in the mouth and a wine that will also require at least some patience. Drink 2028+. Outstanding! WA 94 (1/2020): Unwinding in the glass with aromas of white flowers, waxy citrus rind, green pear, fresh mint and nutmeg, the 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières is medium to full-bodied, chalky and introverted, with terrific tension and structuring dry extract in this warm vintage, concluding with a long and mineral finish. |

BH 92 (6/2020): A markedly more complex nose is comprised by notes of petrol, ripe green fruit, roasted nut and again a hint of poached pear. There is notably better density and power to the broad-shouldered flavors that exhibit sneaky good length on the balanced and moderately firm finish. This is a big wine even by the standard of Poruzots and one that will need at least a few years of bottle aging first. Drink 2026+. Outstanding! WA 93 (1/2020): Aromas of orange oil, fresh pear, almond paste, warm pastry and beeswax introduce the 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots, a medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional wine that's concentrated, racy and beautifully defined, concluding with terrific back-end grip. |

|
BH 92 (6/2020): (from a parcel of <.33 ha,). There is a discreet whiff of exotic fruit character to the white peach, apricot, petrol and acacia blossom aromas. The rich and solidly voluminous medium-bodied flavors possess very good mid-palate density, all wrapped in a clean, dry and refined finish that is sufficiently firm to reward at least a decade of cellaring. This could use a bit more overall depth, but it should have no trouble developing more with time in bottle. Drink 2028+. Outstanding! WA 93 (1/2020): The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes offers up aromas of orange oil, waxy citrus rind, fresh pear and white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping palate that's supple and succulent, underpinned by lively acids and concluding with chalky grip. As usual, this was the first parcel Boillot harvested in 2018. |
