John Lewis Syrah |

JD 98+ (4/2018): Another tour de force, the 2015 Syrah John Lewis offers more lavender, violets, and minerality, as well as incredible black and blue fruits. This peppery, meaty, rich, full-bodied effort has building tannin, awesome purity, and integrated acidity, and it's certainly one of the finest Syrahs in the vintage. It's more tannic than the Lagniappe Cuvée and is going to benefit from short-term cellaring, with two decades of overall longevity. Bravo! This vintage comes from a single block in the Les Collines Vineyard, in Walla Walla, isn’t destemmed, and spends 19 months in 7% new French oak puncheons. |

JD 92 (4/2019): The 2016 Syrah John Lewis comes from the Les Collins, Forgotten Hills, SJR, and Red Willow vineyards and saw 86% whole clusters and 19 months in 11% new French oak. Reminding me of a Saint Joseph with its stemmy black fruits, peppery herbs, and subtle minerality, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, firm tannins, good acidity, and a clean, lengthy finish. It's a good, even outstanding Syrah, yet is a shadow of what this estate has produced in the past. |

Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon |

WA 95+ (6/2016): The 243-case 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a beautiful, elegant Cabernet that incorporates 12% Merlot and comes from the Bacchus, Phinny Hill and Loess vineyards. Aged 22 months in 65% new French oak, it offers tons of toasted bread, espresso roast, lead pencil shavings and dried herbs to go with a core of black cherry and darker currant-like fruits. Medium to full-bodied, seamless, impeccably balanced, and with terrific length, it shows the more streamlined style of the vintage, yet has enough density and depth to reward short-term cellaring, and drink well for two decades or more after that. |

JD 94 (8/2017): Graphite, pencil, lead, smoked earth, tobacco and assorted dark fruits emerge from the 2015 Todos, and it’s its usual, crazy blend of just about every varietal. This beautifully pure, fresh, focused blend has fine tannin and a great finish, and is another stunner from this estate. The full blend is 56% Syrah, 14% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot, 10% Sangiovese, 7% Petite Sirah, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the balance Viognier. |

Force de la Nature Cabernet Franc |

|
WA 98 (10/2014): The nearly perfect Cabernet Franc Force de la Nature comes from a parcel of Cabernet Franc vines planted on the gravelly bench of the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard. This cuvée is only produced in great vintages, which, of course, the 2012 and 2013 are. As with all of Luc Morlet’s wines, there are no acid adjustments, no enzymes and no manipulation. The inky/blue/purple-colored, aromatic 2012 Cabernet Franc Force de la Nature boasts a floral, full-bodied, layered mouthfeel, fabulous intensity and notes of wet rocks, spring flowers, forest floor, blueberries and black raspberries. It is a tour de force as well as a force de la nature from the Oakville Corridor. Consume it over the next 10-20 years. |

WA 100 (12/2015): Luc Morlet's three-digit wine is the 2013 Cabernet Franc Force de la Nature, 100% Cabernet Franc from the incredible Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard. This is an ethereal wine that goes beyond just being majestic. Aged in 100% new Darnajou oak, the wine offers a flowery, blueberry and blackberry-scented nose along with forest floor, some sweet, subtle toast and lead pencil shavings. Remarkably rich, full-bodied, but light on its feet and on the palate, the wine builds incrementally to a majestic, full-throttle, seamless work that is rather remarkable. This is an amazing wine, and Luc Morlet has certainly proven once again his incredible talents and knowledge of great vineyard sites. Drink it over the next 15-20 years. |

JD 98 (6/2018): Coming all from clone 1 Cabernet Franc in the To Kalon Vineyard, the 2014 Force de la Nature is an incredibly singular, exotic, complex 2014 that has loads of red and blue fruits, exotic flowers, incense, and blood orange-like aromas and flavors. About as elegant and seamless as they come, with ultra-fine tannin and no hard edges, it’s an incredible expression of Cabernet Franc from Napa Valley. |

VM 95+ (7/2018): Another highlight in this lineup, the 2015 Cabernet Franc Force de la Nature is super-impressive. Today it is the wine's rich, sumptuous fruit that is front and center. Time in bottle is essential in order for the Franc aromatics to start to emerge. Hints of orange peel and espresso appear in the glass, but the 2015 is not anywhere near ready to show all of its cards yet, and it won't be for a few years. Antonio Galloni. |

JD 96 (8/2017): Checking in as a blend of 33% Grenache, 32% Mourvèdre, 24% Syrah and 11% Counoise, the 2015 James Berry Vineyard had just been bottled, but certainly wasn’t showing the worse for it. It’s deep ruby/purple tinged color is followed by an incredible bouquet of black raspberries, garrigue-like herbs, white pepper and spring flowers. Ethereally textured, silk, full-bodied and perfectly balanced, it has substantial tannin, yet they’re ripe, polished and fine, and it has a terrific finish. Like all great wines, it stays light and wei |
