Discover a Collector’s Cellar of Elite US Reds

If your cellar is built around great California Cabernet, this new collection—spanning the prized 1997 through 2019 vintages—offers one of the strongest concentration of blue-chip bottles we’ve released this year. Nearly every slot is anchored by Cabernet or Cabernet-based blends, showcasing the evolution of Napa and Sonoma over more than two decades of world-class winemaking.
The late-’90s treasures are the immediate head-turners: 1997, 1999, and 2001 Cabernets from top Napa estates, now entering a sublime stage of maturity. These wines carry the silken tannins, cedar-tinged aromatics, and deep cassis character that only long, patient cellaring can reveal. They’re drinking beautifully today, yet still hold enough structure for continued development.
From the 2005–2010 era, the collection shifts into a run of powerful, impeccably balanced Cabernets—mountain sites, valley floor classics, and reserve-tier bottlings that represent some of the most collectible wines of their time. These vintages strike a rare midpoint of freshness and emerging complexity, making them ideal for drinking over the next decade.
And the modern vintages, 2012–2019, bring the muscle: dense, opulent Cabernets from benchmark years, including several wines known for their longevity and cult-level demand. These bottles offer both immediate appeal and serious aging potential.
For collectors who prize California Cabernet above all else, this lineup delivers maturity, pedigree, and scarcity in a single offering. Quantities are limited, and several vintages cannot be replaced.
The following are the wines remaining from the offer sent on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Please enter your desired quantities and click the 'Add' button.

| WA 94 (12/2009): The unfined, unfiltered 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve spends two years in French oak and another year in the bottle before being released. This cuvee has a long track record of aging (the 1990 and 1991 are still going strong). The dense ruby/purple-tinged 2006 offers notes of new saddle leather, black currants, autumnal vegetation/forest floor, cassis, and cherries, superb richness, and a full-bodied, powerful finish. Cellar it for 5-6 years, and drink it over the following 25 years. |

Black Sears Vyd. Cabernet Sauvignon |

| |
JD 95 (12/2017): The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Sears Vineyard, from a site on Howell Mountain aged 20 months in 50% new French oak, is a brilliant example of this terroir, as well as the vintage. A full-bodied, ripe, powerful wine, with awesome notes of smoked meats, currants, licorice, and graphite, it has lots of tannins, a layered mid-palate, and beautiful balance. Winemaker Tony Arcudi commented that if you couldn’t make a good wine in 2013 you should find something else to do. He’s certainly made a sensational wine. These 100% Cabernet Sauvignon cuvees are made by Tony Arcudi, who was formerly in the Navy before working for Michel Chapoutier in the Rhône and later for Heidi Barrett in Napa. Tony launched his own brand in 2012 and is also the consulting winemaker at Kapcsandy. His Cabernets are gorgeous. (Drink between 2018-2043). WA 95 (12/2016): Coming from the famed Black Sears Vineyard, better known for its black bear as well as old vine Zinfandel, this is an interesting Cabernet Sauvignon from Tony Arcudi, who worked for Michel Chapoutier and Heidi Barrett before starting his own brand. His 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Sears Vineyard spent 18 months in 50% new French oak. It is a gorgeous, flowery wine with loads of graphite, mulberry and blackberry followed by some spicy oak, a deep, rich, full-bodied mouthfeel, some supple tannins and a heady, lush finish. Drink it over the next 15 or so years. VM 94 (12/2016): Arcudi's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Sears Vineyard has really come along nicely. Over the last few years the wine has acquired greater finesse and silkiness while retaining all of the signatures that make this well-known Howell Mountain site so unique. It will be a few years before the aromatics are fully expressive. Today, what comes through is the pure primary intensity of the fruit as expressed in this historic vintage. With time in the glass, attractive scents of rose petal, lavender, sage and menthol gradually make an appearance. (Drink between 2018-2028). Antonio Galloni. |

| WS 84 (11/2008): A rich, earthy style, with a touch of game meat to the dried currant, spice and wild berry flavors, veering to a dry, almost bitter roasted almond edge on the finish. Best from 2010 through 2017. 12,000 cases made. |

Melbury Proprietary Blend |
$295 |

| |
WA 90 (12/2003): The 2000 Melbury displays tremendously fragrant aromas of black cherries, currants, licorice, and toasty oak, medium to full body, luscious fruit on the attack, and a slight narrowing in the finish. While Outstanding, unlike the profound 2001, it needs to be drunk during its first 10-12 years of life. VM 90 (6/2003): Good saturated ruby. Black raspberry, black cherry and sexy, spicy oak on the nose. Very ripe but a bit less porty than the '99, with supple, sweet flavors of dusty currant, leather and minerals. A more elegantly styled if less dense wine, but still full, broad and rich, finishing with ripe, smooth tannins. |

VM 92 (6/2003): (like the Melbury, this is from 100% cabernet sauvignon planted in 1990) Ruby-red. Explosive, wild nose combines roasted red berries, grilled meat, tar, brown sugar, mocha and truffle. Dense but juicy, with more power and thrust than the '99 Melbury but not quite the same early appeal. Intriguing notes of smoke, herbs and truffle. Finishes with very smooth, fine tannins. WS 91 (12/2009): Pleasantly earthy, firm, dry and structured, with dried currant, black cherry, spice and black and green olive flavors folding together nicely. Full-bodied and tannic, yet focused and persistent, gaining depth on the finish. The best of two bottles tasted.—1999 California Cabernet blind retrospective (2009). Drink now through 2015. 225 cases made. WA 90-92 (12/2002): The 1999 Vecina, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon offering, exhibits aromas of graphite, tar, coffee, and creme de cassis. It is more austere and less charming and seductive than the 1999 "S". This powerful, muscular Cabernet will be at its best between 2006-2020. |

| BH 92 (1/2018): Deep vivid red. Intensely perfumed red and blue fruit liqueur and rose oil aromas are complemented by suggestions of vanilla and Asian spices. Juicy and sharply focused on the palate, offering sweet black raspberry, cherry cola and floral pastille flavors and a spicy touch of white pepper. Shows very good clarity, strong persistence and spicy lift on the finish, which features velvety tannins and repeating florality. Josh Raynolds. |

Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon |
$225 |

|
| |
WA 96 (6/2011): Caymus has been around for so long there is a tendency to under-estimate their wines. However, they have a brilliant track record as evidenced by the decade old 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage Selection. Abundant chocolaty, black currant, licorice and coffee aromas soar from the glass of this perfumed wine. It exhibits an opaque ruby/purple color, wonderful opulence, a deep, full-bodied mouthfeel, fabulous depth and not a hard edge to be found. While seemingly fully mature, the supple tannins, expansive fruit and glycerin, depth and overall balance suggest it will keep for another 15+ years. WS 95 (6/2004): Lots of aromatic complexity, with ripe plum, blackberry, mineral, slate and cedary oak flavors that are rich and concentrated, with ripe, polished tannins and a long, full-bodied finish that echoes mocha and berry flavors. Keeps revealing vivid and thick flavor nuances. Another amazing Caymus Special Selection. Best from 2005 through 2013. |

Estate Cabernet Sauvignon |

| |
WA 93 (12/2006): While the 2002, which was quite extroverted right before bottling, has shut down, the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is still open-knit, although I suspect it will probably close down as well. It exhibits an opaque ruby/purple color along with a sweet, spicy nose of black currants, licorice, herbs, and damp earth. Rich and concentrated, it is the most accessible, and possibly the most elegant and French-oriented of the Cabernets produced between 2002 and 2004. This top-notch effort should be cellared for 2-3 years, and consumed over the following 20-25 years. VM 91 (6/2006): Bright ruby-red. Sweet aromas of black cherry, flowers, menthol and creosote. Supple, sweet and fine-grained, though not especially nuanced for this wine. Strong note of chocolate. Finishes with a fairly fine dusting of tannins and lingering notes of cherry and licorice. This seems a bit less vibrant than it was from barrel a year ago. Barrett noted that the December 2005 bottling date was quite late for this wine, and my sample had not yet recovered. WS 87 (10/2007): Firm and dry, this is marked by chewy tannins. The core currant, pencil lead and dusty berry flavors are well-focused and long on the finish. The tannic strength and dryness are my major concerns. Decant. The best of two bottles tasted. Drink now through 2013. 12,000 cases made. |

VM 100 (1/2022): What a thrill it is to taste the 2018 Cariad again. Last year the 2018 was magnificent. It is all that this year too. Powerful and explosive, the 2018 is captivating from the very first taste. Healthy dollops of Cabernet Franc and Merlot add layers to this deep, wonderfully vibrant Napa Valley red. In a big morning tasting at Colgin spanning more than a dozen wines, the 2018 Cariad was a stand out. Superb. (Drink between 2025-2043). Antonio Galloni. JD 98 (1/2021): The 2018 Cariad isn’t far off and has a wealth of blue fruits, musky earth, spice, and floral notes as well as a deep, rich, layered style on the palate. As with all the 2018s here, the tannin quality is incredible, and it has a plush, sexy, already complex style that’s hard to resist. It’s going to evolve for 25+ years. The blend is 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot. (Drink between 2021-2048) WA 98 (3/2024): One thing the 2018s from Colgin have in common is a sense of greater tautness and freshness than the 2016s. The 2018 Cariad—a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot—adds dried sage and redcurrants to a base of black cherries on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is energetic, framed by fine-grained tannins and hints of pencil shavings on the long, elegant finish. |

$149 |

|
| |
JD 95 (2/2023): The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot, brought up mostly in new barrels. It’s a killer bottle of wine offering lots of ripe black fruits intermixed with savory herbs, melted chocolate, and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it shows the lush, round, velvety style of the 2019 vintage and is already impossible to resist. It’s going to evolve for 15+ years if well stored. (Drink between 2023-2039). WA 93 (9/2022): There are 6,500 cases of the flagship 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall, based largely on fruit from the Sacrashe Vineyard, at the eastern edge of the Rutherford AVA. A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Merlot, aged in 75% new barrels (mainly Taransaud), it's cedary on the nose, with plenty of cassis and black cherries in support. Full-bodied and plush, this well-endowed effort finishes long and softly dusty, with just a touch of alcoholic warmth. |

|
| |
WA 91 (8/2014): The 2011 Casual Encounters checks in as a blend of 50% Syrah, 30% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre that spent 16 months in 45% new French oak. Pure, elegant and streamlined, with classy blackberry, crushed flowers, peppery spice and licorice, it is medium to full-bodied, pure and nicely textured on the palate. It shows the cooler nature of the vintage, yet still has lots of character and texture. Drink it over the coming 3-5 years. VM 91 (7/2014): The 2011 Casual Encounters is a blend of 50% Syrah, 30% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre. Sweet rose petal, red berries, mint and cinnamon all lift from the glass in a racy, perfumed wine with plenty of near-term appeal. The style is noticeably ripe and intense within the context of the cool vintage, but it all works. Antonio Galloni. |

La Sangre de Jonata Syrah |
$100 |

|
| |
WA 94 (6/2008): The 100% Syrah offering, the 2005 La Sangre de Jonata, exhibits an inky/blue/purple hue along with a stunningly pure nose of melted licorice, meat juices, blackberries, pepper, and a hint of balsamic. It is a wine of extraordinary density, richness, high tannin, beautiful purity, laser-like acidity, and superb texture as well as length. This remarkable Syrah is both powerful and elegant. Give it several more years of bottle age, and consume it over the following 10-15 years. VM 94 (12/2007): Opaque violet. Explosively perfumed nose offers a wild array of red and dark berry liqueur, floral oils and pungent herbs, all underscored by crackling minerality. Deep and sweet, with powerful cassis and black raspberry, candied licorice and violet pastille flavors. This reminded me of a big-ticket, single-site Chapoutier Hermitage. The sweetness is reined in by firm mineral and bitter chocolate, but returns on the remarkably long, juicy finish. Pretty amazing for a sophomore effort. WS 89 (2/2008): Intense and concentrated, this is tightly focused on the core of earthy berry, spice, sage and mineral flavors. Firms up on the finish, with tight cedary tannins. Decant. Drink now through 2012. 700 cases made. |

WS 96 (5/2007): Rich and concentrated, with a generous mix of currant, blackberry, wild berry and mocha-laced oak. Intense, yet avoids being heavy, turning sleek and elegant. Deftly balanced and tightly focused, with a complex, lingering finish that ends with hints of herb and black olive. Drink now through 2015. 875 cases made. WA 94 (12/2006): The home property of the successful husband and wife team of winemaking guru Mark Herold and his graphic designer wife, Erika Gottl, Merus has produced a blockbuster 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon. These cuvees are made from super-ripe fruit, spend 18-20 months in 100% new French oak (usually Taransaud), and are bottled without fining or filtration. A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot and Malbec, the full-bodied, dense 2004 offers notes of blackberries, blueberries, espresso roast, and smoky oak, a super-rich mouthfeel, good freshness and purity, and enough acidity and tannin to provide structure as well as definition. It will be delicious young, but should become more civilized in 4-5 years, and keep for two decades. VM 93 (6/2007): Bright, full medium ruby. Sexy, fruit-driven aromas of black raspberry, crushed blackberry and minerals. Lush, broad and sweet, without being at all overdone. Intensely flavored and vibrant, this fruit bomb shows an enticing sugar/acid balance. Finishes quite broad, with fine-grained tannins. A few years of bottle aging should bring additional complexity. |

JD 98 (6/2018): The 2014 Morlet Estate comes from the western foothills just north of St. Helena and is 99% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a Pauillac-like austerity as well as awesome notes of black fruits, graphite, lead pencil shavings and loamy soils. Fresh, focused, full-bodied and powerful, this classic, structured Cabernet Sauvignon needs 2-4 years of bottle age but will have 20-25 years of overall longevity. I loved these latest releases from Luc Morlet and family, and they show a sensational mix of classic, balanced, even old-school, characters mixed with killer California fruit. As a whole, the 2014s show more elegance and complexity, with the 2015s possessing more power and richness. These are rockstar wines. WA 95 (10/2016): The five cuvées of Bordeaux varietals in 2014 include the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Morlet Estate, which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from his vineyard in St. Helena. This wine exhibits loads of chocolate, crème de cassis, pain grillé and camphor in a full-bodied, Pauillac-inspired style. It is rich, with silky tannins and a long finish. Drink it over the next 20-25 years. VM 94 (3/2017): The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Morlet Estate is laced with the essence of dark stone fruit, chocolate, menthol, dark spices and licorice. The new oak and torrefaction signatures are a bit more present this year than they are in some other vintages. It will be interesting to see how the oak character integrates over time. (Drink between 2019-2034). Antonio Galloni. |

| |
VM 98 (7/2018): The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Morlet Estate is an absolutely gorgeous wine that captures all the personality and pedigree of St. Helena's Northern Corridor. Bright red cherry, red plum, mint and rose petal notes give the 2015 its signature brightness and aromatic lift. Rich and resonant on the palate, but distinctly medium in body, the Morlet Estate is pure class. A rush of red-toned fruit builds into the beautifully persistent finish. This is one of the most distinctive Cabernets in Napa Valley. The purity of the flavors is striking. (Drink between 2020-2040). Antonio Galloni. JD 96+ (6/2018): More masculine, backward, and austere, with a Chateau Latour-like character, the 2015 Morlet Estate gives up darker fruits, crushed rock, and ample lead pencil-like notions to go with a full-bodied, concentrated, structured feel on the palate. With building tannin and obvious minerality, it’s going to handsomely reward patience. I loved these latest releases from Luc Morlet and family, and they show a sensational mix of classic, balanced, even old-school, characters mixed with killer California fruit. As a whole, the 2014s show more elegance and complexity, with the 2015s possessing more power and richness. These are rockstar wines. WA 95+ (10/2017): Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Morlet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has expressive red currant and black currant notes over hints of cedar chest, bay leaves, tobacco leaf, anise and fertile loam. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the mouth with bright, intense red and black fruit layers, supported by fantastically ripe grainy tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long and toasty. |

|
| |
JD 97 (12/2021): The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard was brought up all in new barrels. Rocking crème de cassis, chocolate, toasted spice, and smoke tobacco are just some of the nuances here, and it's full-bodied, has an expansive, ripe, opulent mouthfeel, great tannins, and the class to evolve for over two decades. It's another brilliant wine from this team well worth seeking out. (Drink between 2021-2042). WA 96 (5/2022): Less intricately floral than the 2018 but perhaps a touch riper and more powerful (both are labeled at 14.9% alcohol), Perchance's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III features chocolate overtones to the cassis and black cherry fruit. Full-bodied, rich and velvety, with a lingering finish, the wine boasts just enough freshness to keep the finish mouthwatering and compelling sip after sip. Lush and textured, it may be enjoyed now or for up to two decades. |

Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by a big, peppery, meaty, Rhone-like bouquet with hints of bay leaf, unsmoked cigar tobacco, black currants and sweet jammy cherries. Medium to full-bodied and explosively fruity, this is a lovely, hedonistic, seriously endowed red to drink over the next 3-4 years. |

JS 98 (1/2017): Deep and dark with dark chocolate, blueberries, currants and black licorice. Wet earth, too. Full-bodied and extremely velvety. Generosity balanced out by suggestions of austerity. Polished and beautiful. Superb. Stag's Leap soul. Give it three to four years to come together. Super. Try in 2021. WA 96 (12/2016): Realm's estate wine comes from their new home vineyard, where all the renovation is taking place, at the 22-acre Stags Leap estate. Only 400 cases were made in 2014 of the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon The Estate-Moonracer, a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot from four separate Cabernet clones. While the wine remains the same, each “bottle” is completely different, which is rather amazing. This wine shows plenty of floral notes, white chocolate, red and blackcurrants, cedar wood and loamy soil undertones. It is a beauty – elegant, yet intense and authoritative. Drink it over the next 20+ years. |

| |
| JD 96 (12/2021): A new wine from this team, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Wappo Hill comes from a famous site in the Stags Leap District and is all Cabernet Sauvignon. At a high level, Stags Leap is a slightly cooler region, and the wines shine for their complexity, and that's certainly the case here. Lots of cassis, violets, graphite, dried flowers, and spicy oak define the bouquet, and it's medium to full-bodied, has good acidity, some chalky tannins, and notable freshness and purity. The acidity is higher here, but this still brings plenty of classic Schrader opulence and texture. |

WA 100 (9/2017): Blended of 81% Syrah, 8% Petite Sirah, 6% Mourvèdre, 4% Touriga Nacional and 1% Graciano, sourced from 34% The Third Twin, 35% Eleven Confessions and 31% Cumulus (all estate vineyards), the provocative, inky purple colored 2014 Syrah Piranha Waterdance was made using 26% whole cluster and hits the scent scene with exuberant, pure crème de cassis, blackberry cordial and blueberry coulis notes with hints of espresso, licorice, garrigue and menthol, plus a gorgeous underlying perfume of red roses. The full-bodied palate is oh-so-elegant and pretty, revealing very finely pixelated tannins that beautifully frame the almost electric intensity, culminating in an epically long, licorice and chocolate-laced finish. Too stunning for mere words and rude to even try-just drink it. 1,839 cases and 600 magnums were produced. VM 95-97 (9/2016): A striking, vibrant wine, the 2014 Syrah Piranha Waterdance is beautifully focused and energetic from start to finish. Plum, blueberry, lavender, mint, violet and sweet spices all take shape in the glass. This is an especially nuanced, sculpted Syrah long on class and personality. There is so much to like here. The 2014 is 81% Syrah, 8% Petite Sirah, 6% Mourvèdre, 4% Touriga Nacional and % Graciano, done with 26% whole clusters, all from Sine Qua Non's estate vineyards: 35% Eleven Confessions, 34% Third Twin and 31% Cumulus. Antonio Galloni. WS 94 (9/2017): Rich, ripe and powerfully built, with deep and expressive smoky beef, cracked pepper and currant flavors that charge like a bull toward big but polished tannins. Best from 2019 through 2025. 1,800 cases made. |

WA 90 (6/2015): A step up over the 2012, the 2013 Grenache Wonderland is outstanding, with lots of Provencal character in its savory herbs, mulled red and black fruits and dried lavender-like aromas and flavors. These give way to a ripe, sexy and hedonistically styled Grenache that stays lively and fresh on the palate, with a great finish. Incorporating 12% Syrah and seeing 30-50% whole clusters, it spent 12 months in 25% new French oak prior to bottling, it should drink nicely for another 5-6 years. VM 89 (11/2015): Bright, moderately saturated red. Slightly diffuse nose is dominated in the early going by aromatic spices. Then surprisingly smooth and sweet on the palate, and more concentrated than its color would suggest. Raspberry fruit is complemented by hints of smoke, olive and garrigue. The tannins show a touch of dryness but avoid austerity. Finishes very good persistence. (Drink between 2015-2021). Stephen Tanzer. |

| WS 93 (3/2001): Smooth, rich and spicy, this expands into a tremendously rich and flavorful wine, exhibiting depth, firmness and intensity while its mocha and vanilla-scented currant and black cherry flavors remain elegant and sophisticated. Best from 2003 through 2012. 5,186 cases made. |

WS 96 (12/2011): Aromatically complex, a chorus of dried herb, juicy currant and dark berry with touches of mineral, red bell pepper, soy and graphite, the whole being intriguing and complete courtesy of the parts.—2001 California Cabernet blind retrospective (June 2011). Drink now through 2018. 400 cases made. WA 91 (6/2011): The most evolved, the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 4, comes from an old Beaulieu Private Reserve vineyard. It exhibits sweet loamy soil, kirsch, black currant, cedar and spice box characteristics in its full-bodied, soft, silky, sexy personality. Enjoy it over the next 7-8 years. VM 90+ (6/2004): Medium red-ruby color. Aromas of currant, plum liqueur, tobacco and smoked meat, lifted by a suggestion of wildflower. Pure and firmly built, with currently reticent flavors of dark fruits, licorice and spices. This rather firmly tannic cabernet calls for five years of additional cellaring. |
