Georges Roumier

Today at Flickinger Wines we would like to showcase our current collection of wines from the Burgundy producer – Georges Roumier. Available in-stock or on pre-order. Since its founding in 1924, the Roumier family has elevated Chambolle-Musigny to legendary status, producing wines of haunting beauty, structure, and finesse. Under the meticulous hand of Christophe Roumier since 1981, the domaine has refined its style to perfectly balance purity of fruit, terroir expression, and graceful aging potential. From their benchmark Chambolle-Musigny village to the ethereal Les Amoureuses and profound Bonnes-Mares, Roumier’s wines are regarded as touchstones of the Côte de Nuits. Each bottling reflects an unwavering commitment to precision: strict vineyard care, low yields, and minimal intervention in the cellar. The results are Burgundies that marry perfume and power, capturing the essence of each vineyard with clarity and soul. These are wines that define generations of fine Burgundy collecting. Allocation is scarce and demand is fierce—Roumier bottles rarely see the open market, and when they do, they disappear quickly into the cellars of the most discerning collectors worldwide. Today, we are pleased to offer a rare selection spanning both village and grand cru holdings, each bottle a benchmark in its class. Whether you are seeking immediate drinking pleasure or long-term investment, these wines promise unparalleled rewards.
The following are the wines remaining from the offer sent on Thursday, September 11, 2025. Please enter your desired quantities and click the 'Add' button.

VM 84 (6/2020): The 2004 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru offers light, smudged mulberry and decayed leaf scents on a nose that pales against Christophe Roumier’s other vintages. There is something quite Oriental about the aromas, (hoisin emerges with time) but also the greenness that I remember when I first tasted it from barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannins. Quite a hollow Bonnes-Mares, to be frank, ending in a severely attenuated and raw finish. Tasted at Sarah Marsh’s 2003/2004 tasting in London. Neal Martin. BH 90 (4/2007): A discreet hint of wood spice frames a potent mix of violet, red and black fruits, earth, herb aromas and hints of game that give way to textured, sappy, firm and intense flavors that are both serious and firmly structured. This will require time to come around though there is reasonably good phenolic ripeness and, in the context of the vintage, solid finishing power and pop. Drink 2012+. |

WA 98+ (4/2012): Roumier’s 2009 Bonnes-Mares is without question one of the wines of the vintage. Firm yet beautifully integrated tannins provide the backdrop for the highly nuanced, expressive aromas and flavors that emerge from the glass. All the elements are in the right place in this extraordinary, moving wine. At times the Bonnes-Mares comes across as very powerful, at other times it is quite sensual. In other words, it is pure magic in the glass. Burgundy fans will flock to the Musigny because of its rarity but there is a very real possibility that the Bonnes-Mares will outshine it over time. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039. WS 98 (6/2012): Complex, fragrant aromas of sandalwood, jasmine and black cherry, with flavors to match, converge in this tightly grained, muscular red. Detailed and pure, showing balance and energy. The lingering finish promises the full potential, leading to a long sweet fruit and mineral aftertaste. Best from 2016 through 2036. 0105 cases imported. BH 96 (1/2012): This is also remarkably fresh with very ripe but not over ripe aromas of cassis, spice, stone and raspberry liqueur. There is a palpable sense of energy running through the rich, powerful and brooding broad-shouldered flavors that benefit from a huge dollop of dry extract that pushes the very firm tannic spine to the background on the explosive and youthfully austere finish that possesses genuinely Outstanding length. I very much like the balance here and this should age effortlessly for decades. Drink: 2027+ VM 95+ (4/2012): Bright medium red. Distinctly blacker on the nose than the Amoureuses, offering scents of blackberry, blueberry and peony. Wonderfully sweet and energetic on the palate, showing terrific stuffing but coming across as tightly coiled today. At once creamy and structured for long aging. Most impressive today on the firmly tannic, palate-staining finish. Roumier compared this to the 1990 version but says this one has firmer tannins. A great and long-lived wine in the making. |

| BH 87-89 (1/2020): An attractively fresh and ripe nose displays layered aromas of plum, black cherry and a whiff of earth. There is fine detail and underlying tension to the solidly concentrated flavors that, for a wine of this level, offer unusually good depth and persistence that flashes only a trace of rusticity. |

VM 91+ (4/2002): Deep red-ruby color. Aromas of raspberry, bitter chocolate and coffee. Sweet, lush and concentrated, with a compelling balance of sucrosity and bright acidity. Really packed with fruit. A long, serious premier cru with terrific thrust. WA 91 (5/2009): Pale ruby-brick colour. Fragrant nose of dark cherries, forest floor and truffles. The medium level tannins are wonderfully silky and complimented by the delicate fruit and medium to high acidity. Long finish with a faint minerally character. Drink now WS 90 (6/2002): Underlying sweet-fruit character brings an extra dimension to this balanced, well-made, dark-colored and elegant red Burgundy. Inviting i terroir n , with lovely black fruit. Supple and ripe tannins, with a fresh and succulent finish. Best from 2003 through 2008. 690 cases made. BH 90 (3/2004): This is a clear notch up in quality with explosive black cherry fruits and a very intense inner core of sappy, dense and marvelously long pinot essence. Quintessential Chambolle with its finesse and delicacy but this is most assuredly not light and it finishes quite firmly and with solid minerality. Drink from 2007+. |

| BH 91-93 (1/2016): (from a 1.75 ha parcel of vines averaging 35 to 40 years of age.) Firm reduction pushes the underlying fruit to the background though it does seem ripe. There is more volume and certainly more punch to the overtly stony medium weight flavors that possess outstanding delineation before terminating in a youthfully austere, saline, focused and relatively power finish that offers impressive persistence. Textbook Les Cras. Drink 2024+. Outstanding! |

| BH 93 (1/2019): (From a 1.75 ha parcel of vines averaging 35 to 40 years of age.) Here too there is a background hint of wood framing the super-fresh if cool and restrained aromas of liqueur-like red cherry, rose petal and subtle spice whiffs. There is excellent concentration to the succulent yet well-detailed and intensely mineral-inflected flavors that are blessed with plenty of sappy dry extract that also serves to buffer the moderately firm core of tannins shaping the beautifully persistent finish that also flashes a suggestion of warmth. This is terrific and should age gracefully yet the copious level of sap should permit it to drink reasonably well young too. Drink 2028+. Outstanding! |

| WA 91 (10/2005): Earthy, relatively elegant nose of dark fruits and a touch of underbrush merges with medium weight, nicely precise, punchy flavors of good depth and extract if not necessarily great density or power. This is a relatively elegant wine of obvious class and only a touch of the youthful aggressiveness and austerity of young Clos Vougeot. I would suggest holding this for another 3 to 5 years and drinking up over the next 10. |

VM 88 (3/2007): Good medium red. Sappy black cherry and spices on the nose; fruitier now than the village Chambolle. Then fatter and more harmonious on the palate, with good supple, accessible fruit. Tannins are nicely buffered on the lingering, ripe finish. Roumier sought wines with lighter tannins in 2004, carrying out less extraction during vinification: he vinified at a lower temperature than usual and though the cuvaison was as long as usual he did less pigeage. Stephen Tanzer. BH 88 (1/2007): An earthy and relatively deep nose with better ripeness to the red and dark berry fruit aromas that introduce punchy flavors that are rich, sweet and relatively fine for this cru with a nice touch of finishing minerality on the intense and slightly herbal finish. Good if not truly distinguished quality here. (Drink starting 2010). |

BH 92 (1/2013): I have never been a huge fan of this wine as I often find it to be somewhat coarse, and while always very good, I am rarely moved by it. However, in 2010, as was the case in 2009, this is much better than it usually is with a relatively perfumed nose that includes notes of earth along with the natural sauvage character of the vineyard. In fact there is even a certain elegance to the attractively layered airy and cool red berry liqueur aromas. There is good richness and fine volume to the moderately robust and muscular flavors that culminate in a balanced and linear finish that evidences mild austerity. I quite like this as the tannins are finer than usual and there is a real sense of harmony and completeness. Drink 2020+. Outstanding! WS 92 (6/2013): Starts out tight, with currant, kirsch, spice and earth flavors. Rounds out with a few hours of aeration, offering black cherry and tobacco notes. Balanced, displaying a firm finish for now. Best from 2016 through 2028. 170 cases imported. VM 91+ (4/2013): Good bright, deep red. Briary dark berries, black cherry, menthol and a smoky nuance on the nose. Rich and quite ripe, with deep dark berry and smoke flavors perked up by mint and minerals. At once dense and agreeable for this cuvee. WA 90-92 (2/2012): The 2010 Morey St. Denis Clos de la Bussiere is an explosive wine. Dark red cherries, freshly cut flowers, graphite and mint all take shape in the glass. The Clos de la Bussiere stands out for its energy, focus and length. Persistent saline notes add freshness. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2035. |

| BH 91 (1/2014): (a monopole of the domaine) A high-toned and attractively layered nose mixes notes of red and black cherry with earth and humus nuances. There is excellent detail and punch to the equally mineral-tinged medium-bodied flavors that possess relatively refined tannins that are notably finer than usual, all wrapped in a harmonious and solidly persistent finish. I like the fruit/acid balance and this should age well over the medium-term. Drink 2019+. Outstanding! |

| BH 91 (1/2018): A more deeply pitched nose combines notes of dark currant, earth, underbrush and discreet humus nuances. There is fine richness and plenty of punch to the more voluminous and once again solidly concentrated flavors that are shaped by surprisingly sleek tannins on the firm, highly complex, lengthy and impeccably well-balanced finish save for a trace of warmth. This firm and dusty effort will need all of a decade to shed its core of tannins and become more user friendly. Drink 2025+. Outstanding! |
