VM 92 (2/2022): Vivid ruby. Highly perfumed, mineral-laced red fruit and floral qualities on the nose; a spicy nuance builds with air. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering sappy raspberry and cherry flavors and a touch of smokiness. The spicy note recurs on the long, sappy finish, which leaves red berry and candied rose notes behind. (Drink between 2023-2031). Josh Raynolds. |

WA 95 (2/2010): Perhaps the finest Estate Red to date is the 2007. Its dense ruby/purple hue is followed by blackberry, cassis, cedar, and licorice characteristics, supple tannins, a more accessible personality, full body, and admirable purity, texture, and length. Drink this beauty over the next 2-3 decades. WS 93 (9/2010): Bold, rich, graceful and full-bodied, offering a wonderful beam of ripe blackberry, currant and wild berry, with touches of spice and tobacco leaf. Full-bodied, firming on the finish, where the flavors gain depth and maintain their persistence. Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Carmenère. Drink now through 2017. 5,000 cases made. VM 91 (6/2010): (51% cabernet sauvignon, 24% malbec, 13% merlot, 11% petit verdot and 1% carmenere) Inky ruby. Highly aromatic nose combines cassis, cherry skin, cured tobacco and smoky oak. Supple on entry, offering sweet dark fruit flavors, then tightly wound in the middle, with a sappy quality to the dark berry liqueur and smoky herb flavors. Showing a lot of exotic character right now, much of which seems oak-derived, but there's a concentrated dark fruit as well. The smoky note gains power toward the back, which shows rather suave tannins and lingers with very good intensity. |

JD 96 (3/2022): Incorporating lots of Merlot, with some Cabernet Sauvignon as well, the 2019 Bryn Proprietary Red has a full-bodied, round, mouth-filling style as well as ample ripe black cherry, chocolate, roasted herb, and bouquet garni-like aromas and flavors. It’s ripe and has great tannins as well as the balance to continue drinking nicely for 10-15 years. (Drink between 2022-2037). WA 95 (5/2023): A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon (from Tench Vineyard in Oakville) and 25% Merlot (from Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard in South Napa), the 2019 Bryn Proprietary Red Wine boasts big, intense fruit notes of cassis, blueberries and black cherries. Full-bodied and richly concentrated, this is lush, with great length and gently dusty tannins. Great potential here at a reasonable price. VM 92 (1/2022): The 2019 Bryn is packed with inky black cherry jam, espresso, licorice, chocolate and savory herbs. Silky and powerful in the glass, the Bryn certainly delivers plenty of impact. It is another powerhouse from PerUs and winemaker Russell Bevan. (Drink between 2024-2034). Antonio Galloni. |

St. Robert Pinot Noir |

VM 93 (1/2020): Raen's 2018 Pinot Noir Royal St. Robert is a fabulous introduction to these wines. Airy, gracious and beautifully perfumed, the Royal St. Robert is especially lifted in this vintage. Intense floral, savory and spice notes give the 2018 striking aromatic presence. The 100% whole clusters are evident, but also nicely layered into the wine's fabric. This is an especially ethereal style. I would prefer to give the 2018 a year or two in bottle, as it is a bit clenched, especially on the finish. (Drink between 2022-2030). Antonio Galloni. WA 91 (8/2020): Medium ruby, the 2018 Pinot Noir Royal St. Robert has slowly opening aromas of red berries, cranberries, woodsmoke, cola and earth. The palate is light to medium-bodied and earthy with a grainy frame and great freshness, finishing long. |

WA 92 (7/2020): Pale to medium ruby, the 2017 Pinot Noir takes its time to open on the nose, beginning with touches of scorched earth and gunflint and fleshing out to crunchy red and black berry fruits, tea leaves, amaro and floral wafts. The palate is medium-bodied with concentrated, broody flavors in a grainy, fresh frame. This will benefit from another year or two in bottle. |

VM 93 (3/2016): Inky ruby. Powerful smoke- and spice-accented aromas of ripe dark fruits, cured tobacco, vanilla and cedary oak, all lifted by a suave floral topnote. Stains the palate with concentrated cassis and cherry-vanilla flavors, with zesty acidity and a strong suggestion of peppery spices giving the wine lift. At once rich and lithe, this Cabernet finishes with strong thrust, a touch of smoky minerality and harmonious shaping tannins. Josh Raynolds. WA 91 (4/2016): Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Art Series has a fragrant nose of crushed blackcurrants, blackberries and dried Provence herbs with hints of black pepper, cedar, menthol and undergrowth. Medium-bodied, it has a great core of muscular, youthful fruit with grainy, approachable tannins and a refreshing herbal lift to the finish. |

WA 96 (7/2023): The 2012 vintage in Margaret River was classical and fine; many producers made excellent quality wines in this vintage, and for me, the reds are defined by a ripeness of tannin, which is fully resolved in every regard. Here, the 2012 Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon is layered with cocoa nib, coffee grounds, sage, cassis, blackberry, mulberry, summer raspberry and dried curry leaf. In the mouth, it exudes polish and tannin ... a graceful, almost effortless wine. Sensational. VM 93 (10/2017): Vivid ruby-red. Powerful, oak-tinged blackberry, cherry, candied rose, cured tobacco and mocha scents, accompanied by succulent herb and mineral flourishes. Sappy and seamless on the palate, offering densely packed but energetic bitter cherry, dark berry, mocha and licorice flavors that unfurl slowly. Youthful tannins shape a very long, sweet finish, which features resonating spice, mineral and floral pastille notes. This wine's energy and balance suggest that it will enjoy a long, smooth evolution in bottle. (Drink between 2021-2029). Josh Raynolds. |

WA 93 (7/2023): The 2017 vintage has been responsible for a wide variation in quality in Cabernet Sauvignons across the region. Here, the 2017 Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon is more minty and structural than the glossy 2016 that preceded it. It it savory and leafy and fine. I recall this being one of the best Cabernets produced in this vintage. It is holding well, and it has plenty of time ahead of it; however, I would drink it before many of the other vintages that surround it. |

VM 92 (9/2022): Pale yellow. Lemon zest, pear skin, chamomile and a hint of beeswax on the incisive, mineral-accented nose. Taut and energetic in the mouth, offering chewy orchard and citrus fruit flavors that deepen and spread out with air. The mineral and pear notes drive the long, focused, chewy finish, which shows fine definition and floral lift. (Drink between 2024-2031). |
