2018 Boillot Mouchere
Today we'd like to offer you the rest of our stock of the 2018 vintage of Henri Boillot's signature wine, Clos de la Mouchere. Year after year this is his biggest-selling wine, and for good reason as it often offers Grand Cru quality at a much lower cost. The vineyard is a monopole within the Perrieres vineyard in Puligny-Montrachet, and is known for producing wines that are rich and very intense, but with a serious mineral backbone and a firm freshness that comes from Henri's tendency to pick his whites very early. The combination of fruit concentration and energy really is remarkable on the palate and provides a wonderful follow-on from the white flowers and strong citrus notes on the nose, while the finish demonstrates considerable length and a saline edge that makes this wine complete. Do not miss out on this beauty while it remains available - it is in stock now and ready to go!

BH 94 (6/2020): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) A whiff of matchstick is present on the elegant and highly restrained aromas of acacia blossom, spice, white orchard fruit and a hint of Asian-style tea. There is excellent volume and minerality to the strikingly textured medium-bodied flavors that display outstanding complexity on the balanced, dry and impressively persistent finish. This is one very classy wine that is already wonderfully harmonious. Drink 2028+. Don't miss! Outstanding! WA 95 (1/2020): Boillot's emblematic 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère has turned out brilliantly, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, hazelnut, dried white flowers, citrus oil, blanched almonds and smoke. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with terrific concentration, searing levels of extract and a long, mineral finish. |
