Today at Flickinger Wines we would like to showcase our current collection of white and red wines from the Burgundy producer – Domaine Potinet-Ampeau. Vincent Durrieu is the fifth generation of this family to work the domain, continuing with very traditional Burgundian methods. And it’s a noble tradition. The Domaine Potinet-Ampeau is one of very few to make wine meant to be laid downand to hold vintages in their own cellars to allow them to age correctly before release. We had a great visit with Vincent earlier this year, and have procured a great selection of aged white and red Burgundies, coming directly from the cellars of the estate. The family had strong ties to the American market as early as the 1920s, when Vincent’s grandmother’s family, winemakers in Meursault, were among the first to export to the US. And it was Vincent’s grandparents who, in 1951, started keeping ‘vins de garde’, so the domain always has an impressive array of older vintages on offer. The Domaine Potinet-Ampeau is situated in the village of Monthelie in the southern part of the Cote de Beaune, near to Meursault, Volnay and Auxey-Duresses.The domain works 21.5 acres and produces as much red as white in appellations in the villages of Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Auxey-Duresses, Volnay, Pommard and Monthelie. Here is a great opportunity to try perfectly stored white and red Burgundies with some age.

	JM 92-96 (5/2021): The Perrières is the most complete white in the range, with again an opulent side but racy too orange blossom and passion fruit just dusting the top of the wine. Sweet and succulent vanilla notes.

	JM 89/92 (5/2021): More perfumed than the straight Meursault, showing a little more colour, ripe but lively. Then stiffens up behind, some thyme, a fatter finish behind the chiselled front end. This should develop interesting character further down the road.

	JM 88-90 (5/2021): A blend from Combe Danay, a cooler hillside location and a bit in Les Sous-Courts on flatter land below the village. Tense and lively again, like the Bourgogne Blanc, if not quite so obviously intense, with lemon and fresh apricot notes.

	JM 89-92 (5/2021): From two plots in one lieu-dit, Les Reuchaux. The sample was taken from a rare new barrel, and offers gorgeous intensity, a pure mineral backbone, some sandalwood which comes from the barrel, and very good length.
