VM 90-93 (9/2016): Less exotic on the nose than the Petits Charrons, with a mineral element lifting the aromas of lemon oil and flowers. A sappy, rocky, chalky style with a flavor of bergamot orange. Harmonious acidity gives the middle palate a silky texture. Finishes firm-edged and long. A lovely Meursault in the making. Stephen Tanzer. BH 90-92 (6/2017): This is the first wine to display noticeable exotic characters on the ripe white fruit liqueur-like aromas that are laced with hints of viognier and citrus zest. The powerful yet caressing big-bodied flavors possess Outstanding mid-palate concentration yet there is no sense of heaviness to the balanced and structured finish. Drink 2023+. |

Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru La Cabotte (6.0 L) |

WA 95 (10/2015): Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chevalier Montrachet la Cabotte Grand Cru from Bouchard Père & Fils has a slightly more exotic bouquet within this flight with touches of white chocolate and almond originating from the more generous and conspicuous use of new oak. It needs time to fully integrated. The palate is concentrated and lightly honeyed, the acidity nicely judged but there is a nagging feeling that it was picked a little too late, reminiscent of some of those 2006s on the finish that is missing some delineation. Returning to the glass it actually becomes more refined and elegant, with a saline tang on the finish. This must represent one of Bouchard's finest contributions to the vintage. BH 94 (6/2014): ( Bouchard has been separately vinifying this parcel, which at one time was part of Montrachet, since 1992 though the first commercial release was not until 1997; Prost jokingly refers to this parcel as "Montrachet du haute pente", or upper slope Montrachet.) A reserved nose is pure, cool and airy with its notes of spiced pear, citrus blossom and mineral reduction. There is genuinely striking intensity to the gorgeously detailed medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate with dry extract on the driving and explosively persistent finish. This is a very powerful and concentrated effort that should offer terrific upside development potential and easily last for two decades. Drink 2022+. Don't miss! |

BH 89 (2/2011): A pretty and fruity is somewhat simple nose of very ripe orchard fruit and resin is in keeping with the round, forward and very supple flavors that possess fine length on the appealingly textured finish. It's possible that this will develop more depth with bottle age but given how forward the flavors are already, it doesn't have a lot of time in which to do so. Drink 2013+. |

Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchere ex-Domaine |

BH 94 (6/2020): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) A whiff of matchstick is present on the elegant and highly restrained aromas of acacia blossom, spice, white orchard fruit and a hint of Asian-style tea. There is excellent volume and minerality to the strikingly textured medium-bodied flavors that display outstanding complexity on the balanced, dry and impressively persistent finish. This is one very classy wine that is already wonderfully harmonious. Drink 2028+. Don't miss! Outstanding! WA 95 (1/2020): Boillot's emblematic 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère has turned out brilliantly, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, hazelnut, dried white flowers, citrus oil, blanched almonds and smoke. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with terrific concentration, searing levels of extract and a long, mineral finish. |

Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles ex-Domaine |

WA 94 (1/2020): Boillot's 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles reveals aromas of orange oil, white flowers and peaches, complemented by classy top notes of nutmeg and warm bread. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and vibrant, with quite a tensile, tight-knit core for this typically enveloping premier cru. But looking back through my notes, that often seems to be the case chez Boillot. BH 92 (6/2020): Here too there is a touch of residual SO2 that may require decanting so that the elegant aromas of honeysuckle, acacia, lilac and poached pear aromas can be appreciated. There is a bit more volume if not quite the same minerality and precision to the beautifully textured flavors that are quite seductive before concluding in a delicious if mildly sweet and warm finish. This is lovely but doesn't possess the class and distinction of the Perrières or Clos de la Mouchère. Drink 2026+. Outstanding! |

Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru (1.5 L) |

BH 92 (10/2018): (from Le Corton.) This is presently showing the effects of the recent bottling as about all that is discernible are notes of wood and reduction. Otherwise there is excellent richness to the dense and muscular medium weight plus flavors that flash evident minerality on the markedly dry but not really austere finish. This will need a few years of bottle age to eat its wood treatment and to better develop more depth but that should occur over the next 6 to 8 years. Drink 2023+. |

Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrieres |
$117.99 |

BH 91-93 (6/2019): A pure, restrained and markedly cool nose reluctantly reveals notes of mineral reduction, spice and plenty of floral influence, in particular acacia and lavender. The slightly more sophisticated middle weight flavors brim with minerality on the focused, intense and driving finish. This beauty is firm but not really austere and should drink well after only 5-ish years though it will probably require most of a decade to arrive at its apogee. Drink 2025+. Outstanding! |

BH 94 (6/2020): ( from both Pernand and Aloxe.) A ripe, cool and equally restrained nose offers up notes of green apple, floral, an array of citrus and, like the Chevalier, plenty of mineral reduction. There is excellent power and volume to the delicious yet entirely serious broad-shouldered flavors that possess both terrific cut and minerality, all wrapped in a clean, dry and youthfully austere finale. This isn't quite as dense or powerful as the Montrachet but even so, there is much to admire and note well that this too should age exceptionally well. Drink 2033+. WA 95 (1/2020): The most youthfully reserved wine in the cellar was the 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, a promising bottling that opens up to reveal scents of citrus zest, dried white flowers, green apple and pastry cream. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with racy acids and prodigious levels of searingly chalky dry extract that lend this wine incredible structure. |

BH 93 (4/2014): A ripe but airy and elegant floral and spice-infused nose is trimmed in noticeable wood. The oak is more prominent on the palate though it doesn't seem to unduly compromise the detail or delineation of the minerally medium weight flavors that are delicious, classy and persistent. There is a citrus component to the finish, which adds lift and overall this is really very good. As to drinkability this is already enjoyable but for my taste this should reward another few years of cellar time. Try from 2017+. |
