Thursday, February 22, 2024   Chateau Lynch Bages
Today at Flickinger Wines we would like to showcase our current in stock collection of the Pauillac producer, Chateau Lynch Bages. The wine of Château Lynch-Bages is part of the lineage of the great Pauillac wines. Blended mostly from Cabernet Sauvignon, it combines structure and finesse, elegance and longevity. It is further distinguished by its opulence. Generous right from its youth, it develops more flavours and greater complexity as it matures. We are delighted to offer the vintages below, happy hunting!!
Wednesday, February 21, 2024   Christophe Baron
Today we would like to feature the wines of Christophe Baron. We are fortunate to have options from all three of his critically acclaimed Washington wineries. It was the acres of stones that impressed him in Walla Walla, he had planned to purchase land in Willamette and try his hand at Pinot Noir. He could not get those stones out of his mind, and on a fateful trip in 1997 he set out to model the southern Rhone valley and Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Creating Cayuse with a deep focus on site specific Rhone-varietals. His next venture started as a side-project with his Cayuse general manager, Trevor Dorlan, No Girls is a lesson in wines from the La Paciencia vineyard. Horsepower is yet another Walla Walla winery that continues a focus on Rhone varietals, but here a nod to history with only featuring vineyards that are tilled by horse-drawn plows.

Wednesday, February 14, 2024   Rhys Collection
Today at Flickinger Wines we want to showcase our current collection of wines from the California producer Rhys. Fortunately, as a man who made his fortune backing successful projects as a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley, Kevin Harvey can afford this level of detail. His passion was ignited by a bottle of Russian River Pinot which led him to experiment in his backyard up in the Santa Cruz mountains (now the Home Vineyard). Astounded by the raw potential, this soon blossomed into the hunt for a very particular type of vineyard site. Inspired by the Grand Crus of Burgundy, Kevin went in search of some of the coolest hillside sites in the region, with shallow topsoils and plenty of rocks. His aim was to push Pinot Noir to its Californian limits, forcing grapes to ripen fully while retaining a natural tension and minerality, all the while at remarkably low levels of alcohol (generally the wines fall between 12% and 13.5% abv). Everything about these wines speaks of attention to detail and a deep commitment to making great wine. From purchasing uncoopered staves of the finest French oak a full four years prior to cooperage, to the vast underground purpose-built winemaking cellar, no detail is left to chance. In the often-steep vineyards, vine density is extremely high and as a result farming is entirely manual and very labor intensive. In the winery, vinification is carried out at a micro-level in tiny 4ft square vats: fermentations are native and everything is gravity-fed without pumping, fining or filtration. In essence, the wines are given kid gloves treatment, and then aged in almost neutral French barrels, so better to promote the site-specific characters of the vineyards in the portfolio. The list below highlights their wide range. Add some of the delicious wines to your collection today, happy hunting!!

Monday, January 22, 2024   Alban Vineyards
Today at Flickinger Wines, we would like to focus on our current collection of the wines from Alban Vineyards. Alban vineyards are a patchwork of isolated soil types that you may recognize as Reva, Lorraine, Seymour’s and Pandora. Between and in route to these well healed sites are vineyards that are not so obviously distinct. They have blended these disparate and ‘disenfranchised’ blocks into a single wine they call Patrina. Alban Vineyards is the first American winery and vineyard established exclusively for Rhone varieties: viognier, roussanne, syrah, and grenache. The Edna Valley vineyard is family owned by John Alban. At an early age he fell in love with Rhone wines and started his vineyard in 1989. In the cool-climate valley, he grows 50 acres of viognier, rousanne, and syrah, with an additional 30 more plantable acres on his 250-acre ranch. These densely dark fruit driven wines are truly a delight, add some to your cellar today.
