VM 91 (3/2016): Bright, dark ruby-red. Initially very closed and difficult to taste, but delicate, highly floral notes of blackberry, violet and crushed stone emerged with aeration. Pungent salty minerality energizes the middle palate of this concentrated, soil-driven wine. This opened nicely with air, eventually showing a silky texture, sappy intensity and excellent inner-mouth vibrancy. Finishes with suave tannins and excellent length. More minerally than the Nuits Bas de Combe but not quite as complex today. (Drink between 2019-2026).
BH 89 (1/2016): A fresh, cool and pure nose offers up notes of dark currant, humus, earth and forest floor hints. There is fine concentration and power to the medium-bodied middle weight flavors that possess excellent volume and fine length on the mildly rustic and youthfully austere finish. This is very Gevrey in character and will need a few years of bottle age first. Like the Vigneux and Bas de Combe this delivers admirable quality for a villages level wine. (Drink starting 2021). |

Sweet, dense and seriously concentrated; a very youthful wine with good savory depth to support its broad, serious tannins. With its suggestion of strong dry extract, this wine would really bite into meat. This velvety Vosne-Romanée conveys real power for village wine but should also give early pleasure. (Drink between 2017-2025). Stephen Tanzer.

There is lovely intensity to the delicious and very round middle weight flavors that culminate in a rich, sappy and palate coating finish that delivers very fine depth and length for its level.
