WA 92-94 (10/2001): The dark ruby/garnet-colored 1998 Barolo Vigna Conca offers up an explosive nose of creosote, cherry liqueur, cedar, new saddle leather, soy, and Provencal herbs. Dense, full-bodied, and super-rich, with a 45-second finish, this layered, multi-dimensional, well-balanced, stunning 1998 will drink well between 2002-2016.
VM 91+ (12/2002): Moderately saturated brick-red. Fresh aromas of plum, redcurrant, marzipan and grilled nuts. Broad, sweet and expansive, with a chewy texture. Rather backward and brooding, but has depth and style. Finishes with big, ripe tannins and excellent length.
WS 91 (11/2002): Lively aromas of crushed fruit, with hints of vanilla and spices. Full-bodied, with refined, silky tannins and a medium finish. A juicy and delicious red. Best after 2005. 170 cases made. |
